-The Library Program Is More Thank Checking Out Books!

January 2013

Mrs. McRae and Mrs. Heynemann would like to take this opportunity to thank the students and their families for taking such excellent care of their library books. The students are doing an amazing job of using the life skills of responsibility and respect by getting their books returned on time and in good condition. TheImageElementary Schoolcommunity has checked out 11,553 books since the beginning of the school year!

The students have been working receiving instruction during scheduled classes that is based on the Common Core Standards and Educational Technology Standards for the State ofWashington. The focus of instruction for kindergarten, and first grade is reading and discussing the books in the Washington State Children's Choice Picture Book Contest with an emphasis on story elements and remembering details in the text. The second grade students are working educational technology and learning keyboarding skills. The students in third grade are also focusing on educational technology by reviewing keyboarding skills and beginning to use online resources to find information.  The students in fourth grade and fifth grade are working on educational technology skills.  They are reviewing research skills by using online resources to get information that will be used to create a multi-media project.

Mrs. McRae and Mrs. Heynemann enjoy helping students find a “just right book” for their reading enjoyment. If you would like a recommendation for a great family book to share with your family, please don’t hesitate to call us. We will be happy to help you find that “just right book” for your family reading time.
