Team Mission Statement
As a team, we have many different goals that stretch from goals in life to getting in better shape. Our goal for this year is to get as much out of this season as possible. If we go to practice every day and give everything we possibly can, then we know that when the time comes, we will have the strength to pull through any situation in life. We’re not going to base the overall success of this season on how many matches we win or how we place in tournaments. In order to succeed this year, we need to base our focus on leaving every ounce of our strength on the mat every day. If we can fulfill that goal then everything else will fall into place. Wrestling teaches a person to overcome obstacles throughout life. It’s also a chance to help someone and make a difference in someone’s life. Our long term goal is to be prepared for any life occurrences that are thrown at us. We want to shoot a double on it and take it down. When we’re in the ring we don’t hear anybody except our own thoughts and we know that we belong here. After going through some hard times in the past, we have learned that in order to be successful one must enjoy what they do. In other words – have fun! This year we want to take everything one day at a time and find the satisfaction that comes from hard work. We know that if we do this then we can be very successful. We know that if we give it our all, good things will come for us and we will be able to succeed in anything.
On the mat, we would like to get in better shape and become stronger physically as well as mentally. We can do this by being at practice every day and giving it our all every single minute. This will help us improve our wrestling and become stronger people in the process. For some of us, wrestling is about preparing for another sport. For others, it’s about getting stronger. And still for others, it’s about winning a state title. Some of us want to help other people and be there for them when times get tough. We all have different reasons for being a wrestler, but no matter why we are here we want to prepare ourselves for life and the trials and tribulations it may bring. Our team has taken many hits this year from crushing defeats to catastrophic injuries, but we are still here and we’re all ready for more. We are proud to call ourselves Mountain View Thunder Wrestlers.
