High School & Beyond Plan

All students are required to complete a "High School and Beyond Plan" during their high school career.  Specific work is expected for each of the traditional four-years (see check-list below).  This is one of requirements that must be completed before graduation.

Personal Story—update at the end of each year

  • All students update at the end of each year

 

Learning Style or Career/Interest Inventory—completed by the end of the first cycle of enrollment each year

 

High School Plan and Goals

  • Community service component—completed during the school year
    • 9th and 10th grades learn about community service in preparation for engaging in community service in 11th and 12th grades
    • 11th grade students are encouraged to participate in some form of community service; lesson about community service continue
    • 12th grade students participate in community service as their Culminating Project civic action
  • Complete or revise the LHS Four Year + One Plan—at the end of each year
    • Record the classes already passed in any and all prior years
    • Plan or predict all high school years beyond the one just completed
    • Plan or predict post-high school goals
  • 9th, 10th, and 11th grades write Letter of Intent at the end of each school year

 

Post High School Goals

  • All students write post high school goals as part of the Four Year + One Plan at the end of each year (see above)
  • 10th grade students complete a résumé—during the school year
  • 11th grade students update their résumés, have financial planning lessons, and get at least one letter of reference—during the school year
  • 12th grade students update their résumés, complete financial planning information including the FAFSA as appropriate, and get at least two letters of reference—during the school year
