I have been working for the Evergreen School district for 18 years. I am licensed for Kindergarten through high school as a Health and Physical Education/Fitness Specialist, Classroom Teacher K-8th, Health teacher, Early Childhood Developement and Art teacher. I have two Masters degrees in both Health/Fitness and Education.
My hobbies are Bodybuilding, gardening, and church activities. I also love to shop at Home Depot and Lowe's. I like to go to Junk/Antique shops to buy toys from my childhood. I'm just a big kid in an adults body. I'll probably never grow up.

Image Elementary P.E. Program

Dear parents,

My name is Mr. Heitzman. I will be your child's Physical Education teacher this year (Unless Mrs. Apodoca, our itinerant P.E. teacher is assigned to your child's teacher). This letter is to inform you about our district's Physical Education program and what your child can expect to achieve during their Elementary school experience at Image Elementary School.

Let me first introduce myself to you. I have been a teacher for the Evergreen School District for eighteen years.

My program is based on meeting the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements found under the heading of: Health and fitness 1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain an active life: movement, physical fitness, and nutrition. . We are supplementing our curriculum with the Five For Life Fitness program which includes assessments related to instruction. Your child will get to demonstrate their knowledge as well as performance skills.

The outcomes for the Evergreen School District Elementary P.E. programs are listed below:

  1. Know the 5 components of fitness and apply them to his or her life. (All 5th grade students will be assessed on this near the end of the year).
    1. Cardio respiratory Endurance
    2. Muscular Strength
    3. Muscular Endurance
    4. Flexibility
    5. Body Composition

At Image Elementary School your child will have Physical Education twice a week for 30 minutes each period. Please let me (as well as the school nurse) know if your child has any health related concerns that will restrict his/her activity in any way.

I am very proud of the physical education program at Image Elementary School and look forward to being your child's physical education teacher.

Sincerely,

Mr. Heitzman
