While many of you may know me as your School Counselor, you may not know that my actual title is a Student Assistance Specialist. I joined the Marrion community in 2005. As a School Counselor I provide a variety of services to students and families. My support of students involves classroom guidance curriculum, small groups on various social/emotional skills, individual short-term counseling, and crisis intervention. Students are referred to me by parents, teachers, or even by students themselves. I also collaborate with teachers and staff to determine how best to support students whose behavior is impacting their or others' learning.

In addition, a large part of my work is providing support to families by helping in time of difficult change, connecting them with community agencies, helping with parenting skills, helping with resources such as food, clothing, emergency needs, housing needs, and more. The connection between school and home is vital.

I received my Masters Degree in Counseling at Portland State University in 2005 along with a Graduate Certificate in Couples, Marriage, and Family counseling. For my undergraduate degree I attended Lewis & Clark College and obtained a BS in Sociology & Anthropology. My husband is an art teacher at Parkrose High School so clearly, education is a big part of our lives. My son, Leroy, is a highly spirirted almost 4-year-old. As a family we love to be outdoors as much as possible.
