Hi!

My name is Jean Miley, and I am the counselor/social worker for students and families at Pioneer Elementary.  My role is to provide support to meet the social, emotional and community resource needs of students and their families.

I teach social skills in all Pioneer classrooms to help students get along with others, solve problems, and keep themselves safe.  I also meet with students in small groups or individually.  These groups give extra support to develop friendship skills, manage feelings and actions, or to help with family change issues.

I also can help families with getting community resources for food, health care, counseling, housing, and clothing.  Please call me to meet or get more information.  Some are also attached on this site.

I also work with our early learning program, run by our AmeriCorps volunteers.  This year, we will be continuing our pre-school story time, which is free and open to anyone in the community with children under 6 years old.  Pre-school story and learning time is on Thursdays at 9:15 in our Family Center.  If you have little ones, we hope to see you!

I'm very involved in the Pioneer Positive Behavior Team, which is working on making Pioneer an even more positive place for children and families.

When I'm not at school delighting in your children, I enjoy gardening, quilting, water aerobics, long walks and spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren.
