This program is informally referred to as the "regular" or the "project" program. The structure of this Legacy program most resembles a traditional, comprehensive school. Classes start at 8:00 AM and end at 1:30 PM. Students in the Project Program meet with their Human Relations Team (HRT) every day for the first period of the day. Then, each student has two 90-minute project "classes." At least one day per week after lunch, students meet with their HRT every day.
Instead of semesters, Legacy has four project Cycles per school year. Each Cycle lasts nine weeks. Students start new project classes each Cycle, but continue HRT throughout the year.
Students who enter the Legacy Project Program are assigned to a Human Relations Team Leader. Each HRT team consists of about 20 to 25 students plus the HRT Leader. Ideally, a close bond will develop between the HRT members and teacher. At Legacy, personal development and the development of effective interpersonal skills is emphasized. These skills are taught in the HRT class, where students have the opportunity to practice and learn in a safe, caring environment. |
